Call Me Crawdaddy: A Crawfish Social & Costume Contest

  • Circa 1857 1857 Government Street Baton Rouge, LA, 70802 United States (map)

On Sunday, April 16, 2023, LEUR will be hosting Call Me Crawdaddy: A Crawfish Boil Social & Costume Contest at Circa 1857, from 11:30am - 5:30pm, with all proceeds benefitting Baton Rouge Pride.

In an effort to produce more family-friendly events, Leur and Baton Rouge Pride are teaming up to host a community crawfish boil social for all ages. This event is intended to celebrate the unique crossroads of queer culture and cajun culture through food, costumes, music, dance, & art.

Crawfish will be prepared by the Crawfish Couyon, a local boiler from New Iberia, La.

Leur is a Southern Queer art initiative focused on documenting, curating, and producing Southern Queer art experiences in Louisiana. This event is intended as a fundraiser for Baton Rouge Pride in order to raise money for the Baton Rouge Pride Festival, on June 24, 2023, at the Raising Canes River Center. Leur produces The Queerative Market, an arts & crafts market for Southern queer creatives as part of the Baton Rouge Pride Festival where we celebrate the local Baton Rouge LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC creative communities.
